In the middle ages, football season started in November. That’s when the pigs were slaughtered. The kids took pigs’ bladders and filled them with peas to make footballs.
Joe and I love to lay in front of our easy, low maintenance gas fireplace, but in the medieval world, November was often a month of gathering firewood to provide warmth during the winter. I love the scent of a wood fire.
For The Heretic’s Daughter:
A medieval heiress faces church censorship to become a doctor but her biggest obstacle is the king’s insistence she marry a mercenary.
Fall is in full swing now, but this year had a fantastic summer. We spent three weeks in Scotland hiking, exploring castles and wandering through museums doing research for my upcoming trilogy. Such inspiration! The first book in the series, The Heretic’s Daughter is nearly complete. Heading to Starbucks this morning to do revisions. I love to travel and it’s nice to be home.
